I’m blue da ba dee da ba die… Or, the time I dressed up as a rainbow of blue.

Dress, BSB Mix in Brasília; Blue long sleeve tee, lululemon athletica; Tights, Suzy Shier; Button bracelet, gift; Boots, Locale.

This outfit has inspired a rainbowriffic party idea. A rainbow swap party! Everyone arrives in one colour, and the first person to swap out enough of the items of clothing to create an outfit with all the (traditional) colours of the rainbow wins a prize! You keep what you swap, so being discerning is important. Hopefully that will prevent the rainbowriffic swap party from turning into a seething maelstrom of rainbow coloured clothing and semi- or fully-naked bodies. Or hopefully it will turn into a seething maelstrom of rainbow coloured clothing and semi- or fully-naked bodies. I’m not sure, haven’t really decided how rainbow maelstromy I’m feeling on Friday the 13th.

This haircut still feels like a wig. I’m not sure I’ve completely figured out how to style myself to best compliment my hair. I’ve had the same, or a very similar, hair style for the last several years, and this is one of the more dramatic changes I’ve made over the years. When I see myself in the mirror, I’m still taken by surprise. It’s a good thing, though. I’m reevaluating my style, and looking at my wardrobe differently… When I get comfortable, I lose my innovation. This hair makes me a little bit uncomfortable, and that forces me to do things a little bit differently.

Do you find the same? Do dramatic changes in your hair change the way you approach your wardrobe and outfit design?

  1. LOVE the tee under the dress! Why don’t I do this on my long cold commute?! I will now. Thanks, lady!

I hear you on the haircut. I recently went with a much darker brown than I had been for a while. I kept wearing my hair pulled back because it felt WRONG near my face. I had to wait until it mellowed a bit to feel comfortable with it. I don’t think your hair is a mistake like my colour was, though.

    • It’s so strange, getting used to a new haircut… I styled my hair curly the other day, and it finally doesn’t feel like I’m wearing a wig. It’s awesome.

The long sleeved tee under the dress was exactly what I needed to not freeze today. The temps have finally dropped in Winnipeg, so bare arms was not an option at all!
