Is there anything better than a shapeless, pocketed, technicolour, seizure-inspiring, Brazilian minidress for a walk through Birds Hill Park to get into the Winnipeg Folk Festival mindset? I mean, Folk Fest is less than two weeks away. I need to finalize my wardrobe, make sure I have all my gear ready to go for 5 days of camping and folk music, do more research into the musicians who are playing, and mentally prepare myself for hot days, cold nights, fire pits, drum circles and a party that never stops.

The brightness of this dress used to give me pause, but I am growing increasingly fearless in my sartorial colour application. And you know what? It’s a lot of fun.

First time I’ve worn my hair down or straight since the Winnipeg Wine Festival… One whole month ago.

I was so thrilled when I unearthed this dress from my previously packed away summer gear. I acquired it from my mother’s closet last summer, and it has been one of my go-to: “It’s so hot, what can I possibly wear?” dresses. It helps that the dress doesn’t need much – a fun statement necklace, a bright coloured cotton scarf – and looks great with flats.

Also? It’s my favorite shade of turquoise. So pretty!

Easily my favorite pair of plastic shoes. Easily.

I was inspired by Tanesha’s Weekend Polish outfit. Jeans with a touch of polish. I waffled on what shoes to wear with this outfit, and realized out of the blue that it was warm enough, but not too hot, to wear my creepy plastic lizard feet shoes. 

Finally. My feet love to be weird.
