My favorite way to wear a scarf on my head

Everyone has those days. Those days where you don’t get around to washing your hair… and you can tell that you haven’t washed your hair. This was one of those days, so I turned to my best friend on days like these… No, not being a hermit for the day – a headscarf.

Stripes under wraps (a backyard wedding outfit).

Went to a wedding with Aarron recently. It was a backyard wedding in a small town, and the dress code was casual. So… this is how I dressed for casual backyard small town wedding.

Also? It has been forever since I rocked a side-pony, but pinning it in place was like coming home again. For hair.

Minty fresh and shoes I’ve owned for more than half my life…

I had no idea I loved this season’s hottest shade so much. Not until I put it on for the first time in this loose-fitting blousy top, at least. It looks great with my summer tan (where did that come from? I’m normally so pasty), and the loose fit of the top was perfect for the incredible heat of the day.

In other news, I’ve owned these sandals for 16 years. My mom and I bought them our first Christmas in Brazil to go with a light tan coloured dress that I am 99% sure I don’t have anymore, but really hope I do (because it was pretty awesome, too). In any event – 16 year old shoes – and I still love ‘em.

Little Black Tee and Mishap Hair

Somewhere in the middle of taking pictures, I messed up my hair. I’d like to say that the look on my face on the second picture is because I realized my bra strap was showing in all the pictures, but then I figured I could maybe pass it off as a tanktop or camisole… But I’m owning it. That’s my bra strap. Oh, well.

In other news, I love this skirt. It’s too long, so you can never see my shoes, but I love how it swishes and swirls around my legs.

Black Mamba Necklace – aka my new, most favorite accessory

The other day I was home sick, and I spotted this amazing necklace on Since I was feeling sorry for myself, and it really is a lovely piece… I bought it. Have been planning outfits around it ever since.

It has been viciously hot over the last few days, and this billowy, cotton maxi-dress was the perfect thing for the weather and to take a backseat to the necklace (and as always – pockets are my kryptonite). There is a sheath of silk around a heavy chain, and I love the sheer weight of it around my neck. Expect to see this one again.

Dressed for Monday Best

I didn’t know I’d been looking for a dress like this one for my entire life until I found it. And I felt the same way about the blazer. Between the swooshy skirt, stripes and blue, I was a pretty happy kid at work.

Add the yellow necklace? Between the round beads contrasting with the stark stripes and the bright yellow against that rich royal blue… I was pretty much the happiest kid in the sartorial world.

Black and blue all over

I’m officially a convert to Old Navy Rockstar Jeans. I didn’t buy into the hype, but I finally broke down and got myself a pair in black, and pretty much haven’t taken them off since they arrived on my doorstep.

And for a quick edition of “One Shirt, Two Ways,” I pulled this on for an afternoon jaunt to Ikea for decorations, new dishes and frozen vanilla yogurt. Man alive, I love a skirt with pockets.

Celebrate. Celebrate with brights.

Oh, hi! Um… My life has been over taken by football. It’s really fun, and I love it, but between work, work, video games (don’t judge) and wanting to spend quality time with my boyfriend (often as both of us play video games together), blogging dropped lower on my list of priorities.

I’d love to promise that I’ll write regularly, every single week again, but I can’t. And I think that’s ok. I started this blog for fun, so I’m going to blog for fun when it is fun.

And this outfit was effing fun. I woke up Friday morning with a severe case of the T.G.I.F.s, and opted to dress to celebrate the fact that the weekend – with socials and football games (see?) and family stuff and the like – was only eight hours away.

Do you dress obnoxiously cheerfully to celebrate a good mood?

Fall colours in winter-spring

I’m seriously obsessed with orange right now. Almost as obsessed as I am with this asymmetrical mullet sweater dress my mom gave me over the Christmas holidays this year.

Well. I say “gave.” She’d probably say “borrowed without giving her a choice in the matter.”
