The dress I’d chosen to wear today was still damp from the washing machine (Brazil doesn’t really need dryers), so I had to rapidly come up with a Plan B. So I did. And picked a dress the Mom wore two years ago. For the life of me, I can’t find a good picture of it, but she looked phenomenal.
As always. Because my mom is gorgeous, stylish and fabulous.
Mom and Granny on Granny’s 86th Birthday.
Mom was rocking the dress with that wicked necklace, and a pair of orange chunky heels. Simple and wonderful.

I love this outfit. I love everything about it. I’m incredibly comfortable and I feel simultaneously casual and dressed up. I can go anywhere in this outfit. I love that feeling.
After my Attack of the Avocados from yesterday, I had a nice treat in the form of a massage, a mani/pedi and some Brazilian Waxing (if you know what I mean). Diva, my mother’s esthetician, came to the apartment, set up her massage table in Mom’s wardrobe, and tortured me with wax in places wax should never go (but I’m so glad it does), then pampered me with a massage. Following that, she fixed up my ragged, disgusting nails and toenails. I now have nude coloured nails (I don’t like strong colours on my fingers) and dark green toes… As you can see.
I’m really surprised by how much I like the green polish. I think I’m going to wind up keeping it for a while. It looks super chique, and goes with everything. You can’t really even tell that it is green, unless you really REALLY pay attention.
I like that.
I’m tired today as well. I think the international travel has finally hit me. Mom and I went to our hydro-ginastica this morning, and I’m still so sore from Monday’s workout that everything hurt during the class. Following the class, I had my very first appointment with a swimming coach. He had me swim front crawl for 300 meters, and then informed me that I’ve been swimming inefficiently for … Well, forever, really. He gave me a ton of props to work with, and had me work on my head placement (I swim with it too high), and my stroke. I still have jello-arms, but there was a noticeable difference between my speed during my first 300 meters and the last 300 meters. Remarkable. I was very impressed.
I went for a run as well, and it was one of those struggle runs, where every step is an accomplishment. I’m not sure exactly why, but there are a ton of things I can attribute my fatigue to. I’m not overly concerned.
Tomorrow is a Brazilian holiday, and tonight we’re going out to celebrate. Sushi, then maybe some karaoke? Who knows, but I’m up for it all!
